		<description>Dear Sister,
Please take care in who you ask about the beliefs of a typical Christian, just as I know I must be cautious as to who I would ask about the faith of the average Muslim. When you ask a priest or minister he (or sometimes she) will give you the most orthodox answers - that's why they're in their positions. But the majority of poeple - at least here in the U.S.- who identify themselves as Christian became disenchanted with these beliefs long ago. This is most evident in the recent rise of the non-denominational churches, the only core beliefs of these churches is still a sticking point for Muslims. Namely that Jesus is the savior of mankind, that his death as a sinless being ensures salvation for everyone who believes in him. In these churches you will find the second worst type of Christian - I call them the Justifiers - who are there simply because they fear hell and want a church where all but the worst sins are debatable. But you can also find one of the best the Thinking Christian - these are the ones who know the temporal history of Christianity, and seek the essence of God in a book made by men. Men, and not women, living in a culture of patriarchal ignorance that reguarded women as property. Jesus- in my view- by showing some manner of respect to women, laid the ground work for the increse in women's right's later on. A work which Mohammed (May the Lord bless him, though I haven't yet made up my mind about him as a messenger there is no doubt in my mind that he is among the first in paradise) continued to bring us to our true - different but equal - status.

P.S. As we all know, the absolute worst kind of Christian, as with any religion, is a radical fundamenalist.

May God bless you with peace and whatever good knowedge you seek. Feel free to drop me a line!
